"Nesting" Projects

This weekend we finally made a "designated space" in our home for Baby Girl! I am very excited about this change. My sister loaned me our family's cradle that she used with her 2 boys --which was also the cradle the 3 kids in my family used when we were babies-- and that has served as our little girl's only space for the last couple of months.

Well, the cradle was getting piled high with hand-me-down baby gear, and our room had become more of a garage/attic/storage area than a bedroom lately. I felt like the walls were closing in on me! This weekend, I decided I just couldn't take it anymore, so Jeremy and I worked together all Sunday afternoon and accomplished so much!! We...
  • Moved box upon box to the "community attic" at our apartment complex
  • Donated 4 bags of clothes and household items to Goodwill
  • Purged 2 bags of accumulated JUNK
  • Cleared out 1/2 of a closet (which is 1/4 of our apartment's TOTAL closet space!)
  • Removed the accordion doors from the closet and stored them in the "community attic"
  • Turned an unused corner into a hidden storage area
  • Decorated for Christmas (then promptly stored extra Christmas items :)
  • GAVE BABY GIRL 1/2 OF A CLOSET!!

It finally feels like our home is a home again, and I am so glad! I guess that feeling of organization and accomplishment has me raring to go with my other little works-in-progress, because now I want tackle them, as well! We'll call them "nesting" projects since I am VERY motivated to complete them due to the pregnancy. :)

In no particular order...
  • Jeremy's BCD mini-scrapbook
  • Address book update and upload to Microsoft for label-printing
  • Wedding memory album (It's only been 4 years. :)
  • 2 holes to stitch: my cardigan and Jeremy's t-shirt
  • Christmas cards
  • Screen saver and framed picture update around our place
  • Take a few maternity snapshots with Momma (hopefully include in Christmas cards!)
  • TRY to make a few casseroles and other meals to freeze for after Baby Girl arrives
  • Baby book
